On July 21st, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology held a hearing entitled, “Silent Killer: The Rising Problem of Extreme Heat in the U.S.” CAPA Advisor Vivek Shandas spoke at this hearing on the deaths from the recent heatwave in Portland, OR, and what heat adaptation planning could look like in our country if we act soon.

Data collected by community members creates “civic legitimacy” and action potential for addressing local climate issues.
