Project Example

Longmont, Colorado

CAPA worked with the City of Longmont Sustainability Program to develop a comprehensive community engagement strategy for high-priority, heat-vulnerable neighborhoods. The team created a heat experiences survey, a workshop protocol, and accessible informational materials to frame community conversations about heat. Local partners deployed these materials in three target neighborhoods, provided heat education, engaged residents in participatory mapping, and identified clear action directions. Through this process, residents ranked their preferences for a variety of interventions such as trees, cool pavement, and cooling shelters and indicated specific locations for implementation within each neighborhood.
